PATIENT CONSULTATION

  Doctor-to-Provider and Doctor-to-Patient

Telehealth Consultation

Medical staff including emergency department physicians, in-patient doctors, and mid-level providers, consult Praxis’ specialist physicians to discuss cases.

Via real time patient chart review, and interactions with healthcare providers, Praxis ID assists hospital staff with patient evaluation and assessment and documents in patient’s charts via the EHR.

Praxis physicians generally are medical staff members of the facility and have full access to the EHR. This combination of on site provider care and remote ID expertise leads to improved patient outcomes and significant cost savings.

As part of Praxis’ Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) in consultation with pharmacy staff, Praxis identifies patients who may benefit from Infectious Diseases expertise proactively. For such patients, Praxis will reach out to clinicians directly, offering advice and consultation.

Consultations with Praxis ID specialists enhance the overall quality of hospital care including aiding with differential diagnoses, the optimal choice of antimicrobials, minimizing potential adverse effects, reducing rates of C. difficile infections, reducing length of stay, improving mortality,  and reducing rates of readmission.

Praxis ID also supports outpatient care in Infectious Diseases, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, and HIV.

ABOUT TELEHEALTH FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Telehealth is increasingly becoming a crucial component of the health care delivery system in the United States.

Telehealth technology is supported by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). As defined by the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), telehealth refers to the use of electronic communications technologies (video conferencing, streaming media) and electronic information to assist long-distance health care, health administration, and health-related patient and healthcare staff education.

Companies offering telehealth services hold credentials and licensing, as required by The Joint Commission in the United States. Telehealth service providers are authorized to be part of the healthcare staff in hospitals using their services.

Telehealth can greatly improve care at healthcare facilities that do not have access to an ID specialist. Use of telehealth has greatly improved medical services and provided cost savings. Telehealth can benefit care and reduce costs at all levels of the health care system, including acute-care, sub-acute care, long term care facilities and outpatient clinics.

Praxis ID’s telehealth services consist of well-designed programs that can provide optimum remote clinical health care, as well as, cost-savings.
